5k Cross Country Run Race Information

Presented by Keystone Running Store

-Chris Schmidt

Each Thursday night includes one 5k-ish run and two cyclocross races. We affectionately refer to the cross-country run as a “5k-ish” because the run is two laps and is generally pretty darn close to 5k. No, you will not get a refund if your watch tells you it’s a lot shorter (or longer).

About the Course

You run at the Emmaus Compost Center (it’s not a dump!) between the tape of the cyclocross course. The bike race started in 2005, even though you’ve never heard of it. But here you are reading this, so now you’ve heard of it, so let’s get to business. The course is twisty and turny and usually a lot slower than most people think any reasonable running course should be. For this reason, we believe it to be the best cross country race course in the history of Emmaus. You’re welcome.

Halloween

Halloween is our annual blow-out party. You have to be in costume, and everyone abides. It’s our favorite Thursday of the year. Put October 26th on your calendar!

Registration

Registration opens at 5:00p for the run. The 5k-ish is 2x laps starting at 5:45p (ish). Each week is OPPOSITE DIRECTION of the previous week. For example, Week 1 is “Counterclockwise” and the following week is “Clockwise.”

We race in the dark and rain every week from September to the end of November.

Race rules:

  1. Don’t be a dick.
  2. Promoter’s ruling is final.
  3. Call out your number every time you cross the finish line.
  4. We will make every reasonable attempt to provide accurate results.
  5. All results are final.
  6. Please inform finish line judges if you withdraw from the race.
  7. Don’t break the tape.
  8. Patronize our sponsors.
  9. If you get hurt, it’s your own fault.
  10. Sign a damn waiver
  11. You must check in with registration staff to be counted in the results.
  12. Seriously, don’t be a dick.

Entry Fees

CASH (or Venmo) entry fee is $5 per week. There is a one-time $5 number fee for your season-long number. There is a $5 replacement fee if you forget your number. You will be heckled if you forget your number.

License

You do not need a race license to participate in our weekly series. You do have to sign a waiver, though.

Parking

Park in the lot at the intersection of Kline’s Lane and East Minor Street in Emmaus, then ride along the road into the recycling center. Driving directions can be found by clicking here.

Please check in every week with event staff in the registration trailer. The event is rain or shine. In fact, it’s double points on rainy nights!
